Skoda Rapid in Russia

Vinfrid Faland, the chairman of board of directors of Skoda Autо, made officially the statement that in the near future in the territory of Russia the company will begin production of new Skoda Rapid. According to the top manager, this liftbek a compact class will cross for the first time gate of the Kaluga plant in 2014.

RIA Novosti news agency so quotes a fragment from speech of mister Faland: «In the autumn of 2012 the Skoda Rapid model will declare itself in Europe. To the Chinese dealers the car will reach in 2013 — for this purpose in Heavenly Empire prepare the separate production line. And in 2014 promising to become a hit Rapid will start to collect at Volkswagen Group Rus plant in Kaluga, with adaptation under severe Russian conditions».

Vindfrid Faland also added that by 2016 the Skoda company in Russia will already let out fifty thousand new cars a year. It is caused by good demand for cars of the Czech brand, and also readiness of specialized car-care centers, for example, Avtosputnika, to their service.

Now about technical characteristics of new Skoda Rapid for which two quite good diesel and four petrol motors are already prepared and carefully selected. Its high-speed limit will reach 206 km/h. For diesel 1,6-liter units the following technical characteristics are declared: 90 h.p. and 230 Nanometers and 105 h.p. and 250 Nanometers respectively.
